Carbon Footprint

The Carbon Footprint (CO2) generated by Muralto due to its activity has been reduced by 16% between 2014 and 2018:

  • 2014 246,53 TON's CO2 equivalent
  • 2017 206,74 TON's CO2 equivalent
  • 2018 205 TON's CO2 equivalent

Energy Consumption between 2014 and 2018 has been reduced by 4,29%.

Water Consumption

Regarding the Water Consumption, with the actions carried out during the past years, specially the changes made in our climate, DHW and DCW systems in 2015, cofinanced with ERDF resources, the savings generated between 2014 and 2018 are 29%.

Carbon Footprint

The Muralto Madrid Princesa Family is commited to reduce the impact that our activity generates every day and we have implemented some initiatives:

In 2018 we already replaced all the cleaning references with a new generation products, which contains less contaminant components, biodegradables and identified with the European Ecologic Label.

The paper used for copying, invoicing and printing has the ECO LABEL, which means:

  • Low air and water pollution during production.
  • Hazardous substances restricted.
  • Use of certified fibers from sustainably managed forest.

During 2019 we have left the comsumption of single-use plastic bottles. We have replaced them with glass or made on biodegradable PLA (a plastic resin made from corn starch), 100% compostable and biodegradable. From 2019 we have planned to eliminate at least 15.000 plastic bottles and 6.000 glasses made on the same material per year. We have made an agreement with AguasMedita as a sustainable solution versus plastic and glass bottle consumption in our Buffet Breakfast and Front Desk.

In 2019, all our in room welcome amenities will no longer be packed in plastic. They have been replaced by 100% biodegradable material (recycled paper), as we have done with the current plastic bags for waste, which have been replaced with their equivalent made on biodegradable and compostable material.

And what is most important:

  • We imply to our staff in order to colaborate impanting this actions and adding their initiatives.
  • We inform to our guests about what we do regarding the sustainability and about our goals.
